10 Of Our Favorite Christmas Traditions for Couples

10 Of Our Favorite Christmas Traditions for Couples

2020 has been quite the year, and lots of things have changed. We have a feeling Christmas might not be the same for many people. We most certainly won’t be seeing the large family gatherings we’re used to. Work, travel restrictions, and health might mean that some couples will be spending Christmas by themselves and most participating over Zoom.

With these changes often comes a melancholy feeling. As humans, change is one of the things many people have problems with. So, if you’re feeling a bit down, please be aware that you are not alone. Take a little break from all the hustle and bustle to focus on yourself if you can.

We’ve also come up with some ways that you can still keep the Christmas spirit alive together. Here are ten of our favorite Christmas traditions for couples. They’re a great way to make memories this year that you will enjoy remembering in the future.

1. Pick Out a Christmas Tree

Is it even Christmas if you don’t have a tree at home yet? Putting it up and decorating it is excellent. But there’s nothing quite like the experience of taking a drive to go pick it up. It will be even more fun if you get to chop it down yourselves. Don’t forget to take great pictures for your social media after you’re done putting it up too.

2. Pick Out A New Ornament

Alright, now you have the tree, it’s time to decorate it. You probably have some decorations from the previous year you intend to use, which’s okay. How about buying a new one this year? You can make it a yearly tradition starting this Christmas. It would be a nice reminder of your courage and how you got through this year. You can find ornaments that reflect something that happened this year.

3. Look at Christmas Lights

Christmas is one of the most colorful and beautiful times of the year. How about taking a short walk or drive around your neighborhood to look at lights? You’ll love the experience, and it’s a great way to bond with your partner.

4. Make A Gingerbread House

This tradition has been around for centuries, and you should also do it this year. It’ll remind you of the good times you’ve spent with your families. You can also purchase our Mr. and Mrs. Apron set so you both can be in the kitchen decorating together. Gingerbread houses are always so much fun to decorate.

5. Listen to Classic Christmas Music

Listening to “Blue Christmas” and recent classics like “All I Want for Christmas is You” will help. You don’t have to own a record player to listen either; just get on YouTube. Play favorites from Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Dean Martin. You can both sing along with all your hearts too.

6. Watch Christmas Movies

There’s Home Alone, Frosty the Snowman, Holiday Inn and lots more. Take a weekend out to swap and watch each other’s favorite Christmas movies. It’ll undoubtedly take everyone on a trip down good memories lane.

7. Mail Holiday Cards

You could make a digital one or send one using physical mail. They’re a great way to stay connected with your family. Send good wishes to your loved ones and help spread the Christmas cheer.

8. Bake

Bring out those old family recipes that have been handed down through the years and whip up something. It’ll pay homage to your loved ones now gone and also remind you both of the past. If you don’t have handed down recipes, the start one as a couple. Make dessert, candy and other things your heart feels content with. We mentioned gingerbread earlier.

9. Spend Time Together

It is essential that you remember your unity when you look back at the Christmas of this year. Spend as much time as you can with your partner this Christmas. All of the activities we’ve mentioned above are a great start.

10. Give Back to Others

It’s been a challenging year for so many people. Please do your best to help out where you can this Christmas. Send a meal to that neighbor that you know is hard off and collect donations for shelters. However you choose to do it is up to you.
